THE £60 LIPSTICK | CHRISTIAN LOUBOUTIN

Say you were a world-famous luxury shoe designer where would you go from here? A signature lipstick line, of course. Ok, maybe that jump isn’t technically what you would call natural progression, but that’s exactly what world-renowned designer Christian Louboutin has done. After launching his inimitable nail polish collection last year, Christian turned his attention to creating a lipstick collection that would make pretty much every makeup junkie’s pulse race – and her bank account quiver in fear.


The line features 36 shades in three different textures – Silky Satin, Sheer Voile and Velvet Matte – all of which are housed in beautiful works of what can only be described as art. Being a lover of bold mattes, I decided to pick up Christian Louboutin Velvet Matte Lip Colour in Rouge Louboutin (aka his signature red). Did I really need it in my life? No. Come on, who really needs a £60 lipstick??? That being said, I can’t deny the fact that I have fallen head over heels in love with it.

Richly pigmented yet incredibly comfortable this beautiful matte lipstick is unlike any other matte lipstick I have tried before. Enriched with a complex blend of natural oils and seed butters it offers opaque silky smooth coverage that isn’t at all drying. In fact, I would go as far as to say it is one of the most comfortable matte formulas I have ever worn. Not only that but the longevity of this lipstick is equally as brilliant. For well over 4 hour’s it stays put without budging and then when it does finally being to fade it does so slowly and evenly.

So is it worth the £60 price tag? For me as a one of treat I have to say yes – it really is rather special.
